Solving IT problems

INTRODUCTION:
Here we describe the most common problems and challenges with our IT equipment and how they can be solved.
Solving problems for clinic equipment can be found under the respective methods. Feel free to provide input on experienced problems and any good solutions (then we will make a description on this page so that everyone can benefit :)
- Printer problems – and PDF printing if all else goes wrong
- Labtop
- Internet (Huawei WIFI)
- TeamViewer – remote control of your Labtop from the home office.
- Bullguard – Firewall and PC Cleaning
PRINTER:
Setup:
When we purchase and configure a new Labtop, we also test Print with one (or more) of the existing Printers. But sooner or later you will come out to the clinic with a brand new printer that your Labtop does not think it “knows”.
Often it jumps on automatically if there is an Internet connection and you give it 10 minutes to find itself, and possibly download a Driver file (happens automatically in the background) – but not always.
Therefore, in each printer box there is a short AGS instruction where you are explained to download the installation file in the AGS clan. It has to be clicked a few times, but it should work :)
And otherwise, here are a few extra quick tricks that can be tried:
- Connect the printer DIRECTLY – i.e. not through the USB hub, or via Bluetooth,
- From the WINDOWS start menu (bottom left) you will find the Control Panel, where you will find “Show Devices and Printers”. If the Canon MG3650 appears several times, it may help to remove the previous setups.
Find the current printer and double-click it. A menu will appear and click on “Customize the Printer”. Below you can print a test page. This should preferably look normal in terms of colors and size.

How do I reset a Canon printer?
Turn off your printer to a start (however, the printer’s power plug must still be connected to a switched on) Now press the Power/Power button while holding down the Stop button. Remove your finger from the Stop button, but continue to hold down the Power button. While still holding down the Power button, press the Stop button 2 times.
Print to PDF:
If all else failed and the printer just WON’T… then it is possible to “Print to PDF” if it is necessary to get an extract here and now – as it is for example when we are sitting with a client who cannot get his client report.
NOTE: If it is about NAT surveys, then it is not necessary to generate a printout. As long as you get the reply envelope. Then we print the client report and envelope sender in connection with the medical certificate.
“Print to PDF” means that you generate a print file that remains electronic – rather than coming out on paper. This PDF file can then be saved in a convenient place and subsequently sent to the client – either electronically or in a letter.
Method:
When you click Print or Show Print, etc., the printer that is set as the default printer will appear. If you click on the drop-down next to the printer selection, you will see one of the printer options as “Microsoft Print to PDF”. Click on this, and the next image is the well-known Explorer image white you choose where you want the file saved.
- If it is about client data, save the file in 03 Clinic Databases – Save the file with a name that identifies the client by name, ACCES number and company. Receive the client’s email address or mailing address. Then the home office prints/forwards the file.
- If it is about AGS’s management data, put it under the STORE PLAN folder.

WINDOWS 11:
Windows 11 (W11) will initially be the operating system after 2021, but AGS’ PCs earlier than PC20 are not possible to upgrade to W11 due to the aging version of the CPU (the brain of the PC). All newly purchased PCs from 2022 onwards will have W11.
Windows 11 is primarily invented to increase cybersecurity, but Office365 also runs a little better (faster) on a Windows 11 PC.
We have found in tests that our measuring equipment works fine in Windows 11, and there do not seem to be conflicts if a file is alternately edited in one version or the other :).

TEAMVIEWER:
All our clinic PCs are configured with a TeamViewer ID that can be accessed from our home office PCs, where we can help (or demonstrate) remotely. This is smart for both software problem solving and for instruction.
Call Peter or Annette and we will “invite” you to a TeanViewer session. You accept the invitation and then we can both drive around with the mouse ;)

NORTON (Formerly. BULLGUARD):
NORTON is our PC security system, i.e. Firewall, Virus protection, VPN encryption etc, and not least a PC-Tune-up function, which “cleans up a bit” on the PC once in a while.
If you come to a company where you get access to their Wifi, NORTON will warn – again, in the bottom right corner. If you trust the place (and we do if it is our customer), then click “Ignore” and NORTON understands that this wifi is accepted.
Thus, as a starting point, nothing should ever be done on your part. But if there are mysterious messages or warnings that are not mentioned here, call Peter.
